A Trip to Not-so-cold-highlands - Part III

As mentioned at the end of Part 2, Day 3 or Part III will be kinda boring for you guys. But I'm blogging about it though, cause it was the first time I went strawberry harvesting. I find it quite exciting and hence, it is a memorable experience worth blogging about! *victory background music*

We went to Raju's Hill Strawberry Hill. It's super close to Equatorial Hotel also. Like 10 steps away only. My advice, if you want to visit lots of places, stay at Natasya Resort or Equatorial Hotel because it's just in the middle of everywhere. They serve pure strawberry juice, waffles, cakes and ice-creams but we didn't try them because we ate breakfast already. Haih. So sad.

I checked online already. Many people said that they don't allow people to pick strawberries on weekends.

There was 5 of us, me, the plus 1, but they were kind enough to let us go in anyways. Oh, and don't worry, no selcas in this post because I was too busy hunting strawberries! :D

*pluck pluck pluck*

Here's a few tips if you're going to pick your own strawberries:
#1 Pick those with a dark red colour
#2 Don't pick the extremely big ones if you're after quality because the big ones have more water in them and hence, not so sweet. They'll be juicy, but bland
#3 Pick moderately sized ones. (I know this is hard because we are all greedy right?)

Taken with my iPhone 4S. Not bad right? Who says you can't get a good picture with a smartphone camera?

Okay I lied. There is a self shot here. Teehee

Ootd. Gosh. I look pale

My aunt. Very pretty right?
Cause there's an awesome photographer ;)

Lego and his mutilated strawberry

Caught eating. But in my defense, the kind worker told us to try them

This is illegal of course. But he's really funny (although he didn't intend to be). He said "If you want to eat, squat down. Don't let boss or the other worker see you". So you can imagine lah. 5 people squatting down to eat strawberries. He then proceed to tell us which ones to pick. And the ones he suggested were super sweet and yummy leh. Shhhhhh don't tell his boss.

Yay! 3 baskets erm-not-full of strawberries!

We bought their home made jam. It is RM7 for 230g. A little too sour for my liking

Lego sneaked out a tiny strawberry

That is how we slept in the car on the way back. My face is covered so that you won't puke when you see it. You're welcome

THE END!!!
This is the last of my 3D2N trip to Cameron Highlands. You guys don't have to sit through all the photos and ramblings about this trip already. Hurray.

Kthanksbye (I don't know how else to end a post. Please help)

Tried and Tested : Food Review

McDonalds came out with a new dessert flavour recently, the Banana Crunch. Comes in McFlurry and Sundae version. I think they just wanted to ride on the banana craze. Their way of thanking fans for supporting the Happy Meal Minion Toy rush perhaps?

Photo credit : Stolen from McDonalds Malaysia Facebook page

You might have seen this poster shared on Facebook by some of your ice-cream-lover-friends *guilty* So I got to try it today, and one thing I wanna say is... I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!! I wondered how on earth are they going to incorporate the banana flavour into ice-cream since they can't extract banana juice from a banana (fruit)... right? Idk. I haven't tried juicing a banana before. But I guess I just didn't have a good look at the poster. Cause I initially thought they are going to put in freshly sliced banana into it. Hahahhahahah fat chance! They didn't even have time to look at me when I thank them warmly for their services. Apa lagi slice bananas to put inside my cup of McFlurry.

So anyways, if you're as dumb as me to wonder how they add 'banana' into the ice-cream, they use banana extract - which is easily available in any bakery shop. The ones in tiny little glass bottles with a red cap. And umm... I think the banana extract liquid is transparent in colour.

The Banana Cruch McFlurry has only 3 ingredients. Vanilla ice-cream, banana extract and Kellogg's Coco Pops. For me, the banana extract was too artificial (memang artificial pun) but the Kellogg's Coco Pops was really nice. Chocolate-y and crunchy and yummy.

Michelle's Nom Scale : 8.5 out of 10

*If you don't like it, you're welcome to pass it on to me provided it doesn't look gross and provided it is not all melted up.

A Trip to Not-so-cold-highlands - Part II

This post is about day 2 at Cameron Highlands, Pahang. Day 1 or Part 1 is here if you haven't read it yet

[WARNING : This post contains many photos and less wordings, and also tonnes of selfies. Please prepare a bucket of water to wash your eyes when you're finished reading this post. Thank you. Don't say I didn't warn ya]

Day 2 started very early for us. Left the room at 8am I think. Went to the Sungei Palas Tea Centre which opens at 9am. Lalalalala this place is very close to Equatorial Hotel.

This signboard welcomes you to the start of the said 2 km narrow route to an isolated valley. The Boh tea plantation. If you haven't been there before, please run into a wall. TQVM. Anyways, you have to drive along a narrow and windy road before you reach the famous cafe which has an overhanging platform and the tea centre and the visitor gallery and the show factory. The road is really really narrow. And trust me, you P drivers do not want to drive up there because even middle-age drivers who have been driving for years drive slowly and carefully. At some parts, 2 cars moving at the opposite direction can pass through, and at some other parts, only ONE car can pass through. So, someone had to stop and wait while the other go first.

We reached really early and the gates are not opened yet so we got down to take some pictures. Btw, even though we were super early, there were 2 other cars waiting for the gates to open. No kidding okay? What to do? We Asians are so kia su like that. But it was worth it okay? Our pictures have no other people in the background. *thumbs up*

At first we just sat in the car and wait... for quite so time... and we took pictures. Then only we went down to take more pictures. Hahahha

Okay, finally they opened the gates. And usually from here, if you come in the afternoon when there's gazillion people, you have to find a spot to park your car and walk up the hill to the cafe. But if you have old people, I think they will allow you to drive up even though there's no more parking space left. But since we were super duper early, we just drove up and parked there. #lazypeoplealert

I have no idea what this truck is used for. Lol

Hi. This is me early in the morning
Not that I look any different at other times of the day

Naise.
If you've been here before, you would know how hard it is to get this shot,
without any random people at the corner of the picture.

Jump shots because we were too excited that there's no other people there. And just because WE CAN!
MUAHAHAHA!!!

Tadahhhh!!! The amazing view from up here. Without no strangers in the background! :D

Yay! Perfect spot for family photos

Oh, and did I mention how Lucas is extremely photogenic?
*ignore my aunt in these 4 pictures. The focus here is on the boy. Future male model. Hahaha

Front profile

Side profile

Cool guy pose

The frowning pose. The pose made famous by Will Smith's son, Jaden Smith

I also want to model. Hahahha this is my happy pose wtf

Me and Lucas. He is going to be taller than me soon ><

Wahhh this is some serious posing weyhhh

Okay, then we went to the cafe to have some food. We ate breakfast before we came ><

This is the view at 9am. Still less people. Woot woot

Oh nom nom nom. Everything looks so delicious. I'm feeling hungry now

The view from the overhanging platform

Ladies and gentlemen, all the beautiful pictures here was brought to you by the Samsung NX100
*read it in the advertiser voice and tone please*
Another camera we used during this trip. Nikon something something
See that frown on his face? My face exactly. I find Nikon cameras really hard to use. I prefer Canon!
*insert big brown shiny watery eyes*

I think the one in the background is the Strawberry Tart while the one in the foreground is the plain scone

What should you do when you order hot chocolate? Stain your lips with foam. Yeshhh

See my focused gaze. And my ugly side profile

Then what do you do when you order Iced Peach Tea? Take a picture of yourself drinking from a straw. Kids, don't get nightmares okay? I know I look scary

See so many people at 9.30am. These people sure take photos with strangers in the background one *evil laughter*

I like how they use wood. Looks so nature-ry. Hope no trees were hurt in this process though :(

My awkward crooked smile :/

Yes, that's me. Attempting to pose. Fail case betul

I found a dead butterfly on the ground. Yeah, I picked it up, put it on my hand and camwhore with it. RIP butterfly.

A better quality picture. Taken using the Samsung NX100

When I'm old, I'm going to live up there

What trip to Cameron Highlands will be complete without a picture in the tea plantation?

Hehehehhee... imitating his famous pose

Original vs cover

After posing with the tea leaves, we went to a new place (wasn't fully opened at that time) which we passed by on the way to the Boh Tea Plantation. I think this place is called the Rose Garden? But I didn't remember seeing any roses though. Hhahahaha

View from the top

Lucas was asking for permission to eat the fresh strawberry popsicle and
Lego was kinda grumpy because he's sick and can't eat it

Ootd? This is where you can pluck strawberries and bring them home for a fee. FEE not free ah. I know you all read it wrong. Can't really see the strawberries hor?

See the purple and yellow flowers? They planted it on the roof

See this place so nice leh? Can come here and take wedding pictures d

View from outside

The round hole-y things are wine bottles. Creative usage eh?

View from inside

Look at this place! It's a-ma-zing!!! O.O
Absolutely love the concept and I think this is going to be a restaurant

Btw, I think we kinda broke into this place... Cause they locked the front door but the back door was left opened... so we went in to camwhore. If I don't update my blog in a few months, that means I'm probably rotting in jail for trespassing wtf

Damn nice right this place? Can come here for photoshoot d
I'm available if you can provide me a camera and pay for my expenses. Hahahahaha

Well, since Legolas was quite bitter because he can't eat the strawberry popsicle, we went to a... a... a... um... place...? Like a stawberry or cactus place, I can't remember... to buy cactus. Because Lego wants to um... buy a cactus? OMG what the hell is wrong with me? Suddenly I don't know what words to use to describe a simple thing. Oh, and this is one of the places where you can buy souvenirs and other strawberry-themed-what-not items. But seriously? Every single shop and stalls in the market sells the same things over and over again. And at the same price too!

Hi Lego

Hmmmm seriously deliberating

Dad, I want that one.

So while he shops for cactus, I went around running with the camera taking photos. Hehehehe pure bliss for me okay?

While they bought cactus, I bought Rocky - strawberry flavour! Yum

Very long never see my face d leh

So after that we went to another beautiful place, the Lavender Garden! :D Sooooo many people I tell you. Have to pay somemore. But okay la. Very worth it because the place is just so.... so... picturesque.

This place is just by the road side from Tanah Rata to Brinchang. Or wherever. I dunno where is this place. But!!! You would be blind to miss it.

I check for you guys d. Admission fee is RM3 for kids and RM5 for adults

Oh, you can also check out this and this website for a fuller picture of this place since I didn't include pictures of every angle of this place.

Petunia beds

The view from the top

This is the office... I think. Very nice, but they have a sign there that says "DO NOT ENTER" or something like that. I can't remember

You can pluck and bring these daisies home. If I remembered clearly, it's RM10 for 3? Idk

From here also can see the Petunia bed

Tricolour lavender <3

There's 6 of these and I took pictures will all of them. Bodohnya

This guy really... winner d la

Stapppp!!! I know I have been brutal to keep feeding you pictures of my face. I will stop now. *pinky promise* You can proceed to wash your eyes now. After Lavender Garden, we went to Equatorial Hotel's lobby because the boys wanted to play the claw machine. Pictured below if you don't understand.

Fresh, sweet, red and juicy strawberries. Yummeh

Steamboat for dinner! And it was raining that night also :D Perfection

The 2 boys don't eat much veggies so I sapu all

My favourite mushrooms <3 Took a whole bowl of it

Lucas's half boiled egg

The end of Day 2. If you think this is boring, Day 3 is even boring-er okay? Hahahaha
