Lack of updates

Super busy the past week and month (what's new?) and didn't update my blog. I'm trying my hardest to keep it alive, constantly thinking about posting, but then things have to happen. Like my computer breaking down [4 year old Dell desktop, it's about time :(] and then there was a problem with our Wifi router (all thanks to my IT-dinosaur father) and then there's the usual part time work and house chores.

I've been meaning to blog about my experience working in Kumon (Dec 2013 till mid March 2014), but I still haven't receive my pay and until all the ends are tied, I shall not blog about that! In case anyone gets hurt/upset. But I'm really eager because all the kids are so cute and precious but at the same time mischievous. And of course, there's some pictures to share :D *bliss*

*Kumon is a self learning center for Maths and English. More on that in another post

Now I'm working at Switch Bukit Raja (it's next to the AEON department stores upstairs) so if anyone needs to get an iPhone, iPad, Mac Book iMac or any other Apple devices or accessories, please feel free to drop by. We have a few amazing deals ongoing right now, like our iPhone 5C 16BG is selling at RM1799 instead of RM1999 and the 32GB is selling at RM1999 instead of RM2399 (no strings attached). That's RM200 cheaper for 16GB and RM400 cut down for 32GB!!! I say buy now!

*Switch is one of the authorized Apple reseller in Malaysia. Maybe you're more familiar with Machines, Epi Center, Mac Studio, Mac City. If you don't know, all these places sell the same Apple products from the same (one and only) Apple company at the same price. Any offers or promotions are up to the certain reseller though

Better yet, if anyone's starting an office or a library or a cyber cafe, please come and buy iMacs from us. TQVM

Oh Christmas tree~ oh Christmas tree

Soooooo.... This is an incredibly outdated post. I finally finished making my 3D origami Christmas tree... 2 weeks after the holiday. And I am only posting about this now. Procrastination at it's best wtf.

This is mah final product and yes, I'm aware that my tree is slanted

Today imma show you how to make this Christmas tree. For ummm. The coming Christmas. In ermmm. 8 months. [Caution : This is no 5 minute arts and craft shit. Requires lots of planning, time and paper plus effort. Not for the faint-hearted]

First, start off with an A4 colour paper. Fold the paper so that you get 32 rectangle pieces. And cut them nicely. I use a blade/penknife because it's faster and it cuts nicely so you get crisp edges.

This amazingly good picture is self explanatory right? If not, scroll down slowwwlyyy to read what it means

Start with one piece of the 32 rectangles you got from an A4 paper

 Fold into half lengthwise

 Fold into half sideways

 Open it up

 Fold towards the centre

Fold the other side as well

 Turn it over

Fold the outer top corners inwards as shown

Fold the top flaps down and you will get something like this which looks like a triangle

Fold the triangle in the middle to get a smaller triangle

And voila! You're done
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Now you just have to make a few more hundred pieces or so...

Stacking them up into pieces of 10 makes it easier to count ;D

Yeah, and so basically, you just fit the pieces together referring to the diagram
Picture credits : Stolen from the website as shown
[NOTE : Green pieces counted there is wrong. You'll need more pieces than 711]

Stacking the pieces together [18 below, 18 on top for the first layer]

Fit the number of pieces accordingly, and then I used hot glue gun

Stick the base (brown or in my case, peach) on the tree (green parts wtf)

How it looks; aerial view of my incomplete tree

4 layers tall

TADAHHHHH!!! My naked Christmas tree

Decorating my 3D origami Christmas tree :D it's as fun as doing the real thing

String of lights : Tie knots on a long string of yarn

Ornaments (balls) : Tin foil/ aluminium foil crumpled and made into a ball

Candy canes : 2 tube cleaners (I used red and white for the traditional candy can)

*I hung the balls and candy canes using a transparent string, tied and stuck in between the "leaves"

Star : I used what I had at home, a glow in the dark star. So yes, my tree glows! Christmas magic! *sprinkle magic dust*

Origami omega star - Originally wanted this, after 3 trial and error, I gave up. I've wasted enough trees trying to make a star T_T

Here's the video if you want to challenge yourself and potentially embarassing me (and yourself)

My complete tree!!! *teary eyes* although I'm well aware that it's slanted a wee bit. Hey! No judging until you tried it on your own

From the bottom where you can see the base

BELATED MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! :)

I'm sitting here wondering why it took me so long to blog about this *face palm the wall*

Patbingsoo and a certain giraffe

When there's a crowd like this, you know that something's on.
When it comes to Malaysians, you know some celebrity is here.
And also when it's a free event.

"No purchase necessary" is a damn good crowd puller

So this is my insight of that day. 8th of March 2014. At Caffe Bene, Sunway Pyramid. Call it a fan account or whatever you want.

Checking the place on Instagram before departing to Sunway Pyramid
This is the stage outside

Now you see only 1 floor is packed. By the time I reached at about 11am, 2 floors was packed with sardines humans

This is how it was outside and there's also people standing at the pedestrian bridge zomg

 Balloonsssss! I wantttt :'(

This aunty is so smart! Should've asked her where she got that stool

H&M and Sephora closed their doors because people are trying to use their exit to go outside. And being short and in a big crowd, breathing gets a little harder because we haz no oxygen down here. Thank god me and Hue Ying didn't faint. Cause we are smallminitiny but strong little warriors wtf.

But we did witness a few accidents. There's this one girl who wore an incredibly low and short top with really short shorts or skirt (I'm not sure) but hopefully for her sake, she was wearing shorts. And the Malay police man was fanning her. Must have been very awkward for him.

And the crowd was really crazy what with all the climbing-on-tables-and-chairs-and-boulders. There's also girls who were wearing skater skirts (yes, those kind which flare out) standing on the boulders outside screaming Kwang Soo's name. Omg face palm betul. Although some guys enjoy seeing under your skirt, some were disturbed and awkward lo please. Take care of your pride la can?

Fans chanted Lee Kwang Soo, Lee Kwang Ja, etc. Some claimed excitedly that they saw his hand (apparently he was doing his famous pose), head, hair, etc. But being 154cm in  crowd, I saw nada. No hands, hair or head. Only the camera following him around. Zzzzzz

One very pissed off girl screamed that she was waiting in line since 2am. Damn admirable la *salute*

After being pushed and shoved, I got this close to the stage and then found out that 기린 would not be coming out. Fuck this shit

The location of the fan signing changed from the stage (outside Orange entrance) to inside the shop (indoors) which makes more and less sense. More because there's aircond inside and the condition outdoors is terrible. Less because well, the shop itself is small. And what about those people who waited outside?

Then at about 2 something, a pretty and well dressed lady who was the MC of the day announced that Mr Lee is tired/not feeling well (I can't remember which word she used) and had gone back to the hotel. I can't help but to feel that our giraffe is a diva for being late and for heading back early. But then again, I don't know what really went down. He could be late because of traffic (we all know how it is) or he was just being fashionably late (1 hour late I think?) and well, he could be really sick. Oh wells, just hoping that his condition isn't serious... If that's the case.

Anyway, this part is quite a blur to me. Many are blaming the management for well, poor management. See what I did there? I'm so punny hahaha. I so happened to scroll through Caffe Bene's FB page here and it seems that the particular girl who came at 2am ended up going home empty handed. Everyone was ranting about how bad the management was and their disappointments and such because those who came early and lined up at the stage didn't get his signature, but those who came later end up getting the signature.

Oh wells, enough complaining! We can always scroll through the internet for pictures right? I'm quite content with that.

Mr Lee. Sounds so formal hahhaa

Somehow I prefer the top left picture. The typical kolian 기린 face :D

Apparently Kwang Soo wished a fan Happy Birthday *jelly*

*Pictures shown above are stolen from google.com, Running Man FB page, Caffe Bene FB page and various random Instagram accounts. TVQM

This is the line at about 5pm. Thanks to Kwang Soo's appearance, the whole Sunway Pyramid was packed with people.

He looks so lonely standing there...

 So I joined him. Hahaha

Hue Ying with Kwang Soo. This Pei Yi didn't want to take picture with him. Haihhh you dunno what you're missing out here.

I didn't get to go into the shop on that day, but I managed to - 1 day before that. Yeap, I went to Sunway Pyramid 2 days in a row because I'm just so crazy like that. Okay, so here's my verdict.

Picture stolen from their FB page

Location
Omg so damn hard to find this place because I got lousy directions from my retarded-in-direction sister. But actually it's quite easy to find. It's just opposite machines, the shop right next to the entrance from the bus station or, the shop next to H&M. You're welcome.

 It's shooo pretty :O

Seatings
It's a very small shop, so we had to wait a bit. And we went on a Friday afternoon. Each corner has a nice place to camwhore - mural, vintage clock, etc and lighting is especially good in the morning/afternoon and early evening because of natural sunlight. And the nice floor-to-ceiling glass doors.

Menu
Waffles, buns, bingsoo, patbingsoo, latte, coffee, cappuccino, yogurt and gelato

Portion
Portion size for the patbingsoo is incredibly hugeee. Comes in 2 sizes, Single (S) RM10.80 and Double (D) idunnotheprice. 4 of us, 3 girls and 1 guy shared 2 Single bingsoo and I think we struggled to finish it.

Food
I think all of us pretty much agree that the Cookies&Cream is a little bland i.e tasteless. Especially after you have a spoon of the Strawberry patbingsoo. Strawberry patbingsoo is really not the problem, it's flavour is not overpowering, it's just... the Cookies&Cream has a very light flavour I guess?

Service
Good, friendly and polite staff.
They messed up our order - we ordered Strawberry and Cookies&Cream without red bean. And after eating halfway we realized they mixed up our order by giving red bean (actually only because I hate beans and won't tolerate a drop of it and insisted to change in which my friends doubt that they will change it) and so I went to the counter and told them the problem. They changed it for us, apologizing and without throwing sour faces at me. Major like!

So we camwhored TWICE. Amazingly it didn't melt and even after 10 minutes of photo session, it still taste and look good by the time we were done.

And every table took many pictures. EVERY! I kid you not. Turn left and right also got people snapping pictures like a riffle. We were soooo lucky to get seats at the mural. Because omg the wall looks so good. Especially for camwhoring wtf.

Omg! I sat at the same place Kwang Soo did! Only 1 day before!!!
Gahhhh should've wrote "Michelle was here on the wall"

 Our Strawberry and Cookies&Cream patbingsoo!

  Our Strawberry and Cookies&Cream bingsoo!

See the difference?

First picture is the one they messed up - you can see the generous amount of red bean there below the strawberry gelato *yuck* and the red bean is in the centre of the cup for the Cookies&Cream

Second picture is the one correct order! Ding ding ding! That's my happy bell ringing :D Although it looks like there's lesser strawberry there. But what the heck. They were all sour ><

Btw, pat is korean for red bean so patbingsoo means red bean shaved ice while bingsoo simply means shaved ice. Know the difference!

See! This Single patbingsoo is as big as my head!

Strawberry patbingsoo consists of shaved ice, red bean, strawberry sorbet, strawberries, and strawberry syrup

 A tiny spoon of everything

Cookies&Cream has cream, yogurt or vanilla gelato, shaved ice and oreo

I'm a damn good photographer. No la, it's only because there's a nice background, nice food and pretty girls. You're welcome :D

 Fed up face.

We took photos all the way - before and after our desserts arrived, while eating and even after we were done. *We here applies to only Alisha and me - we were the crazy ones snapping away while Dabeliu and Sylvia drool over the bingsoos and asked "Can eat already or not ar?" Sorry but not sorry because the photos all turned out great :P

 #asianatwork

 With the pretty pretty background

Dunno who's idea is this, but it's a darn good idea when you want to take picture with the person sitting opposite you. And the plus point is that there's 2 of each person. Genius!

"Haihhhh come out with 3 girls is like that one lo bradder"

Natural sunlight is our best friend
*photobomber, you're no friend of ours
