Ginger cookie men

[NOTE]
As you can tell, this post is meant to come out wayyy earlier i.e before Christmas and being me, everything got pushed back wtf

So, about 2 weeks ago, my very talented-in-baking aunt send a few photos to me. I don't know why, but if she intends to make me jealous then well, yes she succeeded. Because I love baking too! And making cute things! A bonus because this is edible. But then again, how do I eat such cute little things like these? I wasn't invited when they did this batch >< hahahah it's okay, I wasn't free anyway and this were for my cousin's assignment/project

Look at them! Laying down side by side <3 loveeeee

And then last Friday my little cousin send me this picture. I was like omaigoddd! New and improved version. Decorated with nice little hearts <3 I'm melting *not invited again but humphhh nvm, I was working

Last Sunday, my aunt jio-ed us out for lunch to eat wantan mee at a really famous place. Seriously famous because the food is THATTT good. We were there at 11.15 and we had to wait for a table. Yup. And most of the time all the food goes out by 1pm. Everything is homemade, from the broth to the noodles to the char siew to the wanton/wantan/dumplings and even to the dumplings' skin. This place is known to local Klang people as Wah Chai. I think it's the name of the grandfather or father of this food business. They operate under a shabby zinc-covered roof kind of place just opposite Maybank. Map from Foursquare says it's along Jalan Jambatan Kota. If you can't find it, blame the app. But judging from the line of hungry people, you wouldn't miss it. It's around RM7 per plate *comes with a bowl of soup with many delicious wantans

And after that scrumptious meal, we head to my aunt's house for baking session! Aunt said that she prepared a lot of dough so that we can have fun and make enough to feed the whole city.

They put up their Christmas tree already! Super cute right? I think they got it from IKEA? I heard it glows in the dark too

Music note bell behind the tree so that you'll know if someone's coming from the other side. Super adorable right? Idk where they got it

Ootd while the rest takes a look and gush over the cookie cutter

This is the product of the previous batch they made. Doesn't this just spell kawaii?

Come lemme give you a hug

Cookie cutter and decorations! :D

Ginger cookie men aka gingerbread man recipe!

A
150g of butter (room temperature)
1 cup of brown sugar
1 egg

B
2 and a half cup of flour
4 teaspoons of ginger powder *you can add more if you like

Steps
1. Mix A with a mixer
2. Sieve B and then mix into A *if dough is too dry, put less flour
3. Refrigerate dough and then it's ready to be rolled out, cut out (by hand or using cookie cutters) and placed on baking paper and into the oven

[TIP]
When preparing cookie dough, use cling wrap to cover it and refrigerate for a few hours, or better yet, overnight so that it turns out crispy for that extra crunch!

Here's a unique design by Jess. Carefully cut, peeled and placed on the baking tray

Mah cousinssss!!! All concentrating hard to make perfect cookies!

[TIP]
Dust your workstation and roller with flour so that the dough does not stick to them

All decorated/dolled up and ready to go into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 170°C
*time and temperature might vary depending on the thickness and size of your cookie and your oven*

Little cousin had some fun with icing sugar. He named every one of them. Ghost, skeleton, chicken pox, pirate and grumpy

[TIP]
Let the batch of cookies completely cool before putting icing on them. Or else the icing sugar will melt and... I don't really know what will happen, probably the design won't turn out well idk
