Orientation Week. Post 2.0

I've received the pictures!!! :D Okay, actually I got it like 2 weeks ago. But I couldn't update because it was the big exam week last week, and so the week before I was busy studying Nah. That's not it. I haven't started studying then. I was busy stressing out about how I should start studying but haven't actually make any effort to start. Yeap, I'm just lazy like that.

So this post is going to be about the same thing as the first post on the Orientation Week. You can read it here if you haven't read it. Only difference is the amount of pictures and majority of the photos here are taken by ME! Omg I just love the DSLR. I used a Canon EOS 60D. Lens... I have no idea which one. Should be the normal lens la. (Amateur alert wtf)

The MPPPU members have the privilege to choose the juniors they want, and they get to have up to 2 or 3 juniors, depends on each seniors' preference. The other seniors just get the leftovers, appointed randomly. To think of it, this is a very wrong practice, I mean to choose your juniors based on their looks. It's really sad if you don't get chosen because your not pretty or handsome enough, right? *sigh* We are just humans. We judge people. No matter how much we try to deny it. I am against this practice, but if given a chance to choose my junior, I think I would do the same. Oh well. No one's perfect. HAHHAHAHAHA *awkward laughter* .......................

Hi honey! I'm baaacckkkkk!!!

Currently having a mid sem break! Finally!!! A real holiday where you can just lie down on the floor and stare at the ceiling just to waste time :D Ahhhh this is the life. The school holiday during CNY and in March shouldn't be called holiday at all because we still had to do school related things and assignments and stress ourselves over them. Hmmm that so called holiday! Okay so we have 2 weeks of holiday since last Thursday. Today's another Thursday already. Omg. What have I been doing the whole week? T.T *Ehem* As I was saying... counting down to the dreadful Moanday (starting of the third sem)... another 11 more days =='

Should have blogged sooner but I was too busy doin... ermmm.... I was... uhhh... idk. Seriously. Time just flew pass me. Anyway, I shall start blogging again... soon... because I don't have to attend school for now... ummm yeah. Hopefully I will update... tomorrow? Hhahhaahahaha

Orientation like no other

Its time!!! For the little ones to come in. Hahahha... To Form 6 that is. Yes, back to the same hideous uniforms and you thought finishing Form 5 marks the end of wearing school uniforms huh? But uniforms aren't that bad. You don't have to fuss about what to wear to school.

This year's juniors look very normal. I mean there's no outstandingly pretty or handsome guys la. Hahahaha. There's more good looking people in our senior's batch. Everyone's looking for pretty girls and handsome guys so that they can pick them to be their foster juniors.

High School Klang is a very old and historical school. Very well known for being the top in many competitions - academically and in co-curricular. But unlike other schools, (i think) STK really has the most outrageous tradition. Especially during the Orientation Week.

 This year's theme is rabbits. Hence the carrot up there.

For one, there's this Mentor and Mentee thing, in which the Upper Six seniors are called Fosters while the Lower Six are called Juniors. The seniors act as a older brother/sister to guide their juniors. Juniors can go their fosters about anything, about the school, teachers, seniors, subjects, co-curriculum, etc. Basically I think it's like a program rakan sebaya move, to allow the students to be more comfortable and can talk to someone their age, but in this case, someone older who is more mature and wiser. 

MPPPU which stands for Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Pra Universiti or MPP for short is in charged of the Orientation Week. They are the emcee, the host and the runners. These people are really brutal. Only to the juniors. Part of the hierarchy because everyone was tortured by their seniors last year. Juniors are frequently reprimanded to greet their seniors, MPP and non-MPP members with a loud "good morning, senior!" *Most of them, like 90% of them do not greet me* :( sad die me

Costumes. Yeap... Last year (when my batch was a junior back then) they had to make an owl. This year's one is way easier to make - a rabbit. Juniors this year were given a pink manila card and a yellow A4 paper for their rabbit costume. Instructions given to them : Draw red eyes. Some came with white eyes. Kena panggil. MPP scolds them for not following instruction. Some with really ugly tails. One guy strung them into a long tail. Wtf? Since when rabbits have long tails like monkeys? But I personally think that red eyed bunnies are scary though.  Some were also called up for not wearing their costume. Also, they have to wear them for the entire Orientation Week! If it spoils, you gotta fix it. If it gets missing, you've had it. Seriously, its like the army cause if you lose your weapon, prepare to lose your head.

Their bunny ears are really cute. Some stand straight up, some just hang down, some fold inwards, some outwards. Gahhhh cuteness overload

Some idiot drew cat/snake eyes. Scariest looking rabbit. Pictured above are the 2 outstanding Signature Books. The rest are just normal or ugly (i.e. no effort put in at all)

Next, the Signature Book! and of course, the candy-giving session is part of this ritual. On the first day of school, all the juniors will be given a manual to help them know the school a little better. Things like the school's address, office number, email, blogsite, vision, mission, motto, teachers, subjects offered. What's different here is that the whole list of the seniors' names are included. All for them to use for the Signature Book. So in this Signature Book, they have to write ALL the teachers and seniors name, with proper segregation as to which faculty and/or class they are from and leave some space after each name for them to sign in it. MPP demanded that they use half of an A4 paper for each page. And since there's so many teachers and seniors in our school, the Signature Book will come to roughly as thick as an exercise book. But you can't buy a book and fill in the names. No! It has to be half of a FREAKING A4 PAPER! MPP's really strict btw. Bigger than that or small than that and you'll be called out. Poor bunnies. And they only have a day to finish it, together with their costume.

Having done the signature book, they have to get signatures in them. 

 Well, the aim for this is for them is to get to know the seniors of the school but *ehem* the purpose for this is forgotten. Me thinks. It's very much like Christmas where most kids remember the gifts part, but forgets the part where it is to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. As I was saying, the juniors were told the day before to bring lots of candies in order to get signatures. It's like this :

         Junior : Senior, please sign my book
         Senior : Candies first. No candy, no signature   

Moral of the story, bring candies to butter up your seniors. And speaking from experience, it's a sad case when some of the juniors didn't bring any candies or ran out of them. This candy giving time can only be described in one word. CHAOS. People walking/running here and there, everyone's screaming for candies, pushing and pulling, plus the hot weather = excessive sweatings and that's very disgusting. Some guys' shirts got so drenched in their own sweat that it sticks to their body. *shivers*

This is the rational and matured side of me speaking : This practice is probably hoping to see juniors getting to know their fosters and then also the other seniors. So I have failed. For I can't even remember my junior's name and I might also have forgotten how he looks like already. And I don't know anything about him except that he's from Kwang Hua (I am guessing this because I don't know which school he is from and also because I didn't take a proper look at his costume) But I doubt anyone get to know each other because the situation was so chaotic what with everyone rushing to get at least 60 signatures before the time is up. Seriously, it was like we were in a wet market.

Scene 
Senior1 : Eh, you sign my (actually it's the junior's) book already or not?
Senior2 : No. Oh come! *exchange book with other senior* You look for your name and sign and I will do the same
Junior : Good morning, senior!
Senior3 : CANDY CANDY! GIMME CANDY NOW!

Am feeling very silly now for demanding for candies from juniors. And also for carrying my school bag along to contain all the candies. But on the bright side, CANDIES!!!! :D I somehow managed to get so many that I think I can really go to a local hospital to distribute them to the sick children already. 

Some juniors just loathe this idea and there are some who thinks that this is lame and/or ridiculous. Caught some who didn't write everyone of the seniors name (my name).

          Junior : Senior aka me, please sign my book
          Me : Okay, give me candies ahhhh *looks for my name*
                 *can't find my name*
                 *realized that they skipped my name*
                 *sad*

And then there are some who are too quiet and shy. When I praised them for their nice handwriting or nice looking Signature Book, some just stood there like a rabbit. Silent. No emotion. Of course there's still polite and seng mok ones who replied with a loud "thank you, senior!"  

There's this one junior who stitched his book to bind them together.
 
       Me : Wahhh Ehhh so niceeee!!! So cool leh. You sew your book!
       Junior : Oh. Thank you senior! I teach you how to stitch la.
       Me : *inner thoughts* wah this junior really know how to socialize with people!

Quite sad that there's no familiar faces :'( NONE. NADA! NAHI! MEI YOU! X ADA! Oh well, life goes on. I'll just meet more new people then! Can't spot any bananas also. Please, if there's any bananas out there, among the juniors, please voice out! *wind blows*

May the month of May Be Brighter

So far, May hasn't been exactly a beautiful month. And currently, its only the first or second week. Idk. We have more sad colours for the week like Black Monday instead of the usual blue monday or monday blues. Last Monday, our school was off because it was the Anugerah Kecemerlangan + Carnival thingy the day before (Sunday). It was still a sucky moanday (Moan-day.... get it? get it? Hahahha I'm so farney) because we have our STPM trials on Tuesday.

Yesterday was also a Monday, and also a holiday but it wasn't an enjoyable one. You all also know why already lah. No need to explain. Next week will be another week closer to the actual day of STPM. Andddd!!! Also the anniversary for the infamous 13th May. That's a deathly day. I heard that there are plans to start a war on that very same day. ZOMG! Please no war! And the next next week from now will be the actual day of STPM. *deep sighs* 

Well, on the brighter side, the juniors are coming in tomorrow!!! :D I'm so excited *as of now* because I like the idea of being a big sister. Whispers : I think I'll do a better job at this big-sister-thing than my sister Woot woot~ Also because we can bully them! MUAHAHAHAH!!! I'm just hoping that there'll be more bananas! Bananas of the world unite!
